Disney Star sees exit of 15 employees including senior executives
Sources reveal that ahead of IPL apart 15 employes, some senior executives too have moved out of the network.
Among the ones who have made their exit are Vikas Sachdeva, Senior Manager for outbound sales in India
His move comes after a decade-long collaboration.
Apart from him, Soumyadutt Nag, Senior Director, Customer Strategy (Revenue Team) and Pratik Khot, Digital Operations, have also made their exithe company.
Disney has been headlining with Big developments involving Walt Disney from selling its India business to Reliance-owned Viacom18 and the division of TV and digital rights of IPL, to selling TV rights of ICC matches to Zee, currently in a tumultuous situation.
With all eyes now on the IPL, commencing on March 29, this attrition from Disney Star raises eyebrows. Last year, it was a battle amidst Star and Viacom in terms of TV versus digital, recall value versus mass reach and a lot more.
In the centre of this tug of war, Jio had announced of their moveb to stream IPL matches for free on mobile. T his caught everyone’s attention.
Reportedly, ovet the last few months, many people have moved from Disney India.
Recently, Star TV’s VP Sales Natasha Sharma made her exit from the company after her eight years stint.
Viacom18 recently roped in Saket Sahay, who was the
Vice-President, Sales at Star Sports for nearly 9 years.
In its fourth-quarter earnings for FY2023, Walt Disney reported a 9% decline in revenue from linear networks in the entertainment segment in Q4 FY23 and attributed a 21% drop in sports revenue to Star (India).
In the sports segment, revenue from Star India stood at $92 million for the fourth quarter this fiscal, down from $116 million in the same quarter last year.
The operating income from Star India also saw a decline of 29% in Q4 FY23 from $17 million to $12 million.
