SC dismisses plea in Modi surname case imposes cost of Rs 1 lakh on the petitioner
Modi surname was made a big issue and made headlines.
Now, in a new development, the Supreme Court took stringent measures on the issue and dismissed the plea and imposed a cost of Rs 1 lakh on the petitioner.
Reportedly, the Lucknow-based lawyer Ashok Pandey had challenged the restoration of Lok Sabha membership of Rahul Gandhi following the stay of conviction in the Modi surname defamation case.
Notedly, a bench of Justices
BR Gavai and Sandeep Mehta, while dismissing the plea by Ashok Pandey, said, that this petitioner is in the habit of filing frivolous petitions and this is yet another one.
