Mumbai Police flouts CrPC rules, says Bombay HC
The Mumbai Police have landed in trouble as Bombay High Court has initiated action against the cops for flouting
CrPC rules.
While hearing a petition filed by a man seeking a direction for his wife, an Uzbekistan national, to produce their month-old daughter, Justices Ajay Gadkari and Shyam Chandak noted that procedures mandated by the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) were not followed by Mumbai Police.
The Bombay High Court has directed the Maharashtra state police chief to personally ensure that lower-ranking officials adhere to mandated CrPC procedures while dealing with cases.
Calling it a ‘serious concern”,
the Bombay High Court has asked the Maharashtra state police chief to personally ensure that lower-ranking officials properly maintain case diaries and are aware of the seriousness of the issue.
