Albeit, every actor and actresses desired to share screen space with Amitabh Bachchan to boost their career, Sridevi was adamant on not playing second fiddle to him. Such was her position.

Undoubtedly, Sridevi was among the most celebrated actress of Bollywood and so was Amitabh Bachchan to boost their career. Such was her position that she was adamant not to play second fiddle to the B’town legend since she wanted to be a part of women-centric films.

So, it took Bachchan a truck load of roses to induce her to share screen space with him in the 1992 film Khuda Gawah.

In the book, ‘Sridevi: The Eternal Screen Goddess’, written by Satyarth Nayak, late choreographer Saroj Khan, who was working on a song with Sridevi, remembered the stunning visual when the actor was rained with roses sent by the senior Bachchan.

Sridevi went on to say that in the midst of filming a song a truck of roses arrived. Sridevi was standing near it and the whole carrier tilted over, showering roses on her.

It was quite a visual. The kind gesture of Amitabh left an impact on Sridevi, but she wasn’t induced as she felt there wasn’t enough for her to do.

However, filmmakers Manoj Desai and Mukul Anand gave in to her condition and the two actors were cast together in the film which emerged as one of the biggest hits in their filmography.

Before Khuda Gawah, Ramesh Sippy also signed Sridevi and Amitabh Bachchan in his film Ram Ki Seeta Shyam Ki Geeta, where both of them had double roles.

Even the chartbuster song’ “Jumma Chumma” was supposed to be a part of the film. Revealing the placement of the song in the film, Saroj Khan shared in the book.

The sequence had Amitabh as a cop catching a pickpocket Sridevi red-handed. When she asks what she can bribe him with, Amitabh asks for a chumma.

However, the film never went on floors and the song was later picturised on Amitabh Bachchan and Kimi Katkar in the 1991 film ‘Hum’.

The last time the Bollywood buffs got to watch Bachchan and Sridevi together on-screen was in Gauri Shinde’s 2012 film English Vinglish. The film had a special appearance of Bachchan.
