Shantanu Naidu came into the public eye after a video of him celebrating Ratan Tata’s birthday went viral, capturing the interest and admiration of fans and well-wishers across the country.
Ratan Tata, the high-profile chairman emeritus of Tata Group and globally renowned Indian billionaire, has been headlining not only for his business acumen but also for his philanthropic endeavours.
Ratan Tata has appointed Shantanu Naidu, as General Manager of his start-up and whom he considers as dynamic individual and his closest trusted aide.
Shantanu Naidu came into the public eye after a video of him celebrating Ratan Tata’s birthday went viral, capturing the interest and admiration of fans and well-wishers across the country.
Tatas are the owners of a
Rs 4078 crore presidential palace, 8 private jets, and numerous lavish properties worldwide.
Notwithstanding being unmarried, Tata has embraced Shantanu Naidu as a cherished member of his close circle, treating him like a son.
Notably, at the age of 29, Shantanu Naidu embarked on his journey with Ratan Tata in May 2022.
Shantanu, born and raised in Pune, earned his engineering degree from Savitribai Phule Pune University in 2014.
Subsequently, he pursued a Master’s in Business Administration from Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management in 2016.
Following completion of his education, Shantanu began his career as an automobile design engineer at Tata Elxsi in Pune.
In a notable turn of events, Shantanu, amidst working at Tata Elxsi, encountered the issue of dog fatalities due to speeding vehicles.
Inspired to address this problem, he conceptualized the idea of creating collars for dogs that would enhance their visibility at night, even in the absence of streetlights.
To garner support for his innovative venture, Naidu penned a letter to Ratan Tata outlining his business proposal. Remarkably, Ratan Tata not only responded but also invited Naidu for a meeting to discuss the venture.
And this encounter marked the beginning of a friendship amidst two avid dog lovers and eventually led to Naidu securing a position as Ratan Tata’s assistant and later as a general manager.
Apart from his roles within the Tata Group, Shantanu ventured into entrepreneurship, founding the startup Goodfellows. The startup, aimed at assisting senior citizens, has reportedly garnered an estimated worth of Rs 5 crore.
Ratan Tata, displaying his support for Naidu’s initiatives, has also invested in this new venture.
