Karisma Kapoor returns to big screen in Homi Adajania
directorial “Murder Mubarak” after 5 years
Many actors have staged a comeback after an hiatus. Obviously, for the remuneration they earn, plus name & fame they cannot expect from other industries.
The recent actress is the most talented Karisma Kapoor who has worked with big banners and co-stars.
Notedly, Casting director Panchami Ghavri seems to have a soft corner for the ’90s leading ladies, having grown up on their films.
For her, the actors of the 90’s are better than the new ones. She cites Raveena Tandon, as an example, who was in the web series, “Karmma Calling”. Ghavri feels equally overwhelmed on her next, “Murder Mubarak” in which Karisma Kapoor returns to the screen five years after the 2019 released “Mentalhood”.
According to Ghavri, Karisma was on top of her mind for the project, with director Homi Adajania giving her a pointed brief—rope in a diverse cast.
Her brief was to get an eclectic cast, actors who can bring something of their own to the table, add idiosyncrasy to their characters and think on their feet.
Karisma was one among the first few suggestions she had made for the character.
She wanted to find something fun for her; and she knew she was looking for something good.
She heard the narration and it was on says Ghavri amidst peels of smiles.
She was very much aware that the.cast comprising Vijay Varma, Sara Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Pankaj Tripathi and Sanjay Kapoor has piqued curiosity around the film.
Notedly, Ghavri has also done the casting for The Crew, which features Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon and Diljit Dosanjh. But she takes little credit for bringing three of today’s talented leading ladies together. It was all Producer Rhea Kapoor who wanted a powerful female lead cast and made it happen. What they managed to crack together was Diljit’s casting.
There is a high to their line of work. There is nothing more priceless than making that call to an actor and telling them, ‘You’re on.’”
