Mumbai-Pune travel time gets shortened with MSRTC’s launch of ‘Shivneri’ AC Buses Via Mumbai Trans Harbour Link

It comes as good news for regular Mumbai-Pune commuters. The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) commenced a trial run of four air-conditioned “Shivneri” buses between Mumbai and Pune via the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) starting from 20 February.

As per statement released by the transport body, the initiative aims to reduce the travel time between the two cities by one hour, while the fare will remain unchanged.

MSRTC designated “Shivneri” buses operating on the Pune railway station-Mantralaya and Swargate-Dadar routes, departs at 6:30 am and 7 am respectively, will incorporate the MTHL route to reach Mumbai. The return journey will follow the same route.

The buses will traverse through Panvel, Nhava-Sheva, and Sewri to connect with the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, touted as the longest sea bridge in India. Originating from Sewri in Mumbai, the bridge concludes its span at Nhava Sheva in the Uran taluka of Raigad district.

Notably, the MSRTC, being one of the largest public transport bodies in the country, boasts a fleet of approximately 15,000 buses. Every day, more than 60 lakh passengers rely on these buses for their daily commute.
