Ankita Lokhande opens up on being told to ‘comprise’ to bag a South Film

Notably, actress Ankita Lokhande emerged as an household name with her hit television show, Pavitra Rishta.

But, she could have started her career as an actress had she not had a casting couch experience early in her career.

In her latest media interaction Ankita opened up her unpleasant experience with a film producer who offered to cast her in his south Indian film only if she agreed to ‘comprise’.

Ankita shared that she had gone to meet a filmmaker in a Mumbai hotel after she got a call from him saying that she had been selected for a role.

She had given an audition, and received a call saying, that she has been selected and she was supposed to go to sign and she told them, ‘Yes, she will come to the hotel.’ She even told her mother excitedly, that she was going and will get the signing amount.

But she was apprehensive on getting the role just like that. She added that when she went to the hotel, they called her in and asked her coordinator to stand outside. They said, that she has to compromise.’

At that time, she was just 19 and at that time around, it was like ‘she wanted to be a heroine and that phase was on.’ She played smart because she did not want to hear that she had to sleep with someone. So she asked them, ‘What kind of a compromise? Do they want her to go to a party with her producers, finances?’ So she played it very smart saying that she doesn’t get to hear that what they were supposed to say.

That day she decided she never wanted to do films in South.

Though she handled the situation well, that day she also decided that she wouldn’t work in the film industry and was happy with only working in the television industry.

“That day she realised this industry or anywhere, she cannot give anyone the right to any person who can ask her that she has to sleep with them.

She felt so low about herself that how could someone say this to her? She is now happy with her Television industry. After that, she got this opportunity of Pavitra Rishta and she happily did that.

However, Ankita made her Bollywood debut in Kangana Ranaut’s 2019 film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. She also starred in Baaghi 3 and will soon be seen in Swatantra Veer Savarkar.
