PM Modi takes ‘elephant and jeep safari’ at Kaziranga National Park in Assam.
PM Modi, on his maiden visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, first took the elephant safari in Mihimukh area of the Central Kohora Range of the park followed by the jeep safari inside the same range
PM Modi was accompanied by park director Sonali Ghosh and other senior forest officials
He urged people to “experience the unparalleled beauty of its landscapes and the warmth of the people of Assam”.
A notice from Arun Vignesh, Divisional Forest Officer of Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, stated, “The jeep safari and elephant rides in Kaziranga Range, Kohora, will be unavailable to visitors.
Reportedly, Jeep safaris was suspended on March 7, 8, and 9 in the forenoon, while elephant rides was suspended on March 8 and 9.”
Later in the day, PM Modi unvield the 125-ft high ‘Statue of Valour’ honoring the renowned Ahom general Lachit Barphukan in Jorhat
Subsequently, PM proceeded to Meleng Meteli Pothar, situated in the Jorhat district, to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a multitude of central and state projects amounting to roughly ₹18,000 crore.
