Although there has been blockbuster films like Jawan and Pathaan enter the Rs 1000 crore club at the global box office, entering the 100 crore club still remains just as monumental.
For actresses, being a bankable box office draw as a film’s lead has been slow, yet it’s seeing steady upward progress.
Many popular actors have even entered the 100 crore club, but the one who has delivered the maximum number of Rs 100 crore hit movies in the lead has been Alia Bhatt. She supersedes Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut.
As per reports, Alia Bhatt starrer which earned more than Rs 100 crore at the global box office, have been Gangubai Kathiawadi (Rs 212 crore), Raazi (Rs 196 crore) and Dear Zindagi (Rs 135 crore).
Notably, for Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia was honoured with the National Film Award for Best Actress.
After Alia Bhatt, it is Kangana Ranaut, who has starred in two movies as its lead which have crossed over Rs 100 crore at the global box office — Tanu Weds Manu Returns (Rs 255 crore) and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (Rs 133 crore).
Other actresses who shouldered a movie that entered the Rs 100 crore club are — Rani Mukerji in Hichki (
(Rs 215 crore), Taapsee Pannu in Pink (Rs 157 crore) and Sonam Kapoor in Neerja
(Rs 135.52 crore).
Alia Bhatt as of now has two confirmed projects in the pipeline, Jigra and Love & War. Jigra, which also features Vedang Raina of The Archies fame, co-produced by Alia’s production house Eternal Sunshine Productions and Dharma Productions.
The Vasan Bala directorial is slated to release on September 27, 2024. Love & War, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The epic saga is slated to release on Christmas 2025.
