Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma embraces politics- will contest from Pithapuram
Known as a Maverick Filmmaker, Ram Gopal Varma has decided to embrace politics. He will contest from Pithapuram in Andhra Pradesh.This move by tve filmmaker has come as a big surprise to his fans.
Taking to his official X(formerly twitter) the 61-year-old director
announced his abrupt decision to enter politics.
Notedly, the filmmaker’s post coincides closely with the announcement by the Telugu Desam Party-Bharatiya Janata Party-Jena Sena alliance, revealing that actor and JSP chief Pawan Kalyan would be contesting from the Pithapuram seat.
No sooner he shared the post, his fans congratulated him. However, a section of social media users did not believe him and they took to the comments section to asked whether he will contest the Lok Sabha polls or the Assembly elections in the state.
If one recollects in 2018, Ram Gopal Varma had reportedly challenged Pawan Kalyan and wrote, will contest all seats in AP like superstar rajini doing in TN ..if he doesn’t do, PK’s fans will feel he doesn’t have guts like Rajinikanth ..it will be an insult to Telugu people’s prestige if our Superstar has lesser guts than the Superstar of Tamil people.”
He added that if Pawan Kalyan doesn’t contest with guts contest in each and every seat of AP, both his fans and all Telugu people will feel he’s just a very ordinary star and not a SUPERSTAR like
Ram Gopal Varma was also critical of Pawan Kalyan’s Katamarayudu. In the year 2020, a group of Pawan Kalyan fans reportedly vandalised RGV’s Hyderabad office for making a parody film on the actor.
Ram Gopal Varma, referred to as RGV, gained prominence in the 1990s with his breakthrough film Shiva with which was highly acclaimed for its realistic portrayal of college life and its innovative filmmaking techniques.
All through his career, he has experimented with various genres, including crime, thriller, horror, and drama. Some of his notable films include Satya Company, Sarkar, Rangeela and Bhoot among many others.
The filmmaker often gets praised for his bold and unconventional storytelling style, as well as his ability to depict gritty and realistic scenarios.
RGV also hits headlines and faces criticism for his controversial statements.
