Hailed as ‘God of Cricket’
Sachin Tendulkar took home
a whopping Rs.35 crores for his documentary”Sachin: A Billion Dreams” released in 2017.

Having embarked on his cricketing journey when he was just 11, he was considered one of the most successful cricketers in the world.

The former skipper of the Indian national cricket team, he presented a sneak peek into his life through the documentary “Sachin: A Billion Dreams”.

It was way back in 2017 that director James Erskine released a documentary on Sachin‘s life unveiling several undisclosed details of the cricketer.

Notedly, it was a trilingual documentary sports film shot in Hindi, Marathi, and English. Widely regaled nationwide, Markedly, the documentary was declared tax-free in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Odisha.

According to various online reports, the documentary was made on a budget of 39 crores
and Sachin was paid Rs.35 crores merely to provide personal life details.This meant that the production cost was as low as 4 crores.

The film pans through Sachin Tendulkar’s journey from childhood to emerging as a cricketer. Things took an ecstatic turn when his transformation to ‘God of Cricket’ was showcased.
The ace cricketer narrated most of the film, but did it resonate with the audience as expected.

The box office collection was 50.81 crores net in India, while the nationwide gross collection in its lifetime stood at 65.03 crores.

The spellcasting of the documentary wasn’t only restricted to India but overseas as well since it made cumulative earnings of
Rs.6 crores.

The documentary at the worldwide box office earned for Sachin: A Billion Dreams collected an impressive 71.03 crores gross.

Thus Sachin Tendulkar alone took home almost 49% of the total earnings made by the creators.

Post-release, the film was accessible in five languages. Besides Hindi, English, and Marathi, it was also dubbed Tamil and Telugu and even featured MS Dhoni.

A R Rahman had provided the musical score for the.documentary and distributed by AA Films.
