Preity Zinta had always wanted MS Dhoni in her PBKS team
Preity Zinta, amongst many Bollywood stars, is one who co-owns a cricket team for the Indian Premier League (IPL). Formed in 2008, the team was formerly known as Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).
But few years ago name got changed to Punjab Kings (PBKS).The cricket team is jointly co-owned by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Karan Paul besides Preity Zinta.
In an interview, Preity Zinta had said that she wanted Mahendra Singh Dhoni, to board her team despite of being aware it would never materialise.

In the same interview, the Veer Zaara actress said that she wasn’t a big fan of Dhoni when the IPL started. But she had an admiration for his work as time passed by.
As per reports by amidst an IPL event in 2018, Preity Zinta was asked which current players she would like her in the IPL team, Punjab Kings, she went on to mention the name of
MS Dhoni whom she always and that is MS Dhoni. She wasn’t a Dhoni fan, but from what she had seen of him in the last ten years, she started showing admiration for him.
At the same event, Preity Zinta also bashed the trolls who wanted MS Dhoni to retire due to a few failures. The cricketer, who has been the captain of Chennai Super Kings from 2008 till 2024, often gets a lot of hate for some hits and misses.
Preity further added that last year, everybody started saying Dhoni should stop playing, but look at him this year. He is unbelievable, and she thinks it’s unfair at every step to challenge a player once he reaches a certain stature. He doesn’t need to tell people that he is MS Dhoni.
It’s nice to know of owners of other IPL teams praising and admiring the work of cricketers from opposing teams. That’s precisely the very reason why the tournament is such a big deal in the country.
Meanwhile, for IPL 2024,
MS Dhoni decided to step down as the captain of CSK, and Ruturaj Gaikwad is now headlining the cricket team.

Preity Zinta’s IPL team, Punjab Kings, have played two matches so far for IPL 2024. CSK hs won two matches as of now. It would be interesting to see how her team, led by Shikhar Dhawan, performs this year.
