Madhu Mantena steps down as producer from Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial “Ramayana”
In a fresh development, the producer of the much talked about Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial “Ramayana”, has stepped down as producer over monetary concerns. Tne magnum opus features Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. It is learnt that DNEG virtual production has taken over sd producers for the film.
According to the producers, Mantena is not financially compatible right now to take on such a huge project and he had to step down due to monetary concerns when the film was about to go on the floors anytime soon.
An insider reveals that the expenses of visual effects and graphics were quite high and required someone with strong financial backup and experience in that area. In this picture the expenses for VFX is much on the higher side and DNEG are quite capable to handle it. Earlier they had done the VFX for “Fighter”and something of that level is what Ramayana makers are also aiming for.
DNEG has to take care of VFX for such a big film on the lines of “Oppenheimer”. With DNEG coming on board, the stakes for “Ramayana” has escalated. The producers expect the visual effects to be much captivating than those Tablets.
The producers approached Mantena and Tiwari for a comment, but there has been no response as yet from them.
Another source also reveals that DNEG has not come on board as a full time producer but will only handle a part of the production. Such VFX production companies don’t come 100% on board. DNEG will just handle a part of it, mostly VFX expenses. For example, if the budget is 100 crore, they will only take care of 20-30%.”
It is also exclusively learnt that Ravi Dubey ceases to be a part of Ramayana, unlike what the reports suggested. Moreover, he is not playing the role of Laxman in the film. In fact, after the exit of Mantena,
the process casting has slowed down.
Notedly,Ranbir Kapoor has started the preparation for now.” Producers have also reached out to Dubey for a comment, but there was no response.
