Marathi actor Adinath Kothare in ‘Ramayan’ as Bharat-Ranbir plays Ram
Popular Marathi actor Adinath Kothare has been roped in to play the role of Bharat in the upcoming big screen adaptation of ‘Ramayan’ in which Ranbir Kapoor essays the character of Lord Ram.
The casting choices in the Nitesh Tiwari directorial has been attracting a lot of attention.
Infact, this casting choice adds a significant depth to the ensemble, as Adinath Kothare, known for his work in Marathi cinema and his Bollywood debut in Kabir Khan’s “83” alongside Ranveer Singh, steps into a pivotal role.
The story of “Ramayan” is a revered epic in Indian culture, depicting the life of Lord Ram, his 14-year exile, the abduction of his wife Sita by the demon king Ravana, and the ensuing battle to rescue her.
Bharat’s character is crucial as he rules Ayodhya in Ram’s absence, placing Ram’s sandals on the throne as a symbol of his brother’s sovereignty. The cast also boasts of Sai Pallavi as Sita, with superstar Yash playing the antagonist Ravana.
Additionally, the film is said to feature TV and film actress Sakshi Tanwar as Mandodari, Ravana’s wife, highlighting the diverse talent pool the director has tapped into for this grand retelling.
Other rumored castings include Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet as Surpanakha, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, each bringing their unique strengths to these timeless roles.
However, official confirmation on these roles is awaited.
