Actress BJP MP Hema Malini Counters Congress Attack in Mathura
Noteworthily Hema Malini’s 10-year record as Mathura MP has metamorphosed her into a “brijwasi”. This was revealed by the actress-politician Hema Malini to a news channel, today, 9 April, in a negation to her Congress rival’s “outsider” charge in the ascend to Lok Sabha polls.
As per Mukesh Dhangar, the Congress’s candidate in the temple town, this election is a contest amidst “brijwasi”, the word used to refer to Mathura residents and ‘pravasi’.
In her response to the barb in the midst of an exclusive interview with a news channel, Hema articulated that she has emerged as a brijwasi in 10 years, adding, she is a brijwasi anyway because she is a devotee of Lord Krishna.
She feels proud of the work that she has done in the temple town.
And if she is considered an outsider, then, in that case, she would like to say that outsiders work better. The people residing in Mathura can’t distinguish between good or bad, and what could be better, but, ironically, has never happened.
Since, we are from outside, we see more and have more experience. So we want more to happen here. As an MP, I got a lot of things done here by coordinating with ministers,” she said.
She said she could not have done so much if she was just a celebrity. She was able to do it because she is an MP. No one should waste this position. Every city can emerge much better if MPs work properly.
On the challenges she faces due to regular trips between Mumbai and Mathura, Hema revealed that, it has become a habit now. It takes eight hours from Mumbai to Delhi to Mathura and she has done it several times and she doesn’t think anyone else will do it. She is very much dedicated to this place and wants to do her best.
Hema was first elected from Mathura in the 2014 general election that brought the BJP to power. That year, she pulled off a stunning win over sitting
MP Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Chaudhary, ousting him by a margin of over 3 lakh votes. This time around, Chaudhary and his party are backing her following RLD’s entry into NDA. Interestingly, in 2022, Chaudhary was at the centre of a row when he took a swipe at the BJP saying that he doesn’t “want to be Hema Malini”.
On how the equations have transformed, the 75-year-old leader shot back that it is definitely a positive development. Infact, she had campaigned for him many years back and he won. And then, she returned to Mathura here and they were on opposite sides. Now again he is back.
And it’s great, Chaudhary Charan Singh is considered a messiah for farmers and their party also focuses on the welfare of farmers and the poor.
The news channel also asked Hems over the controversy surrounding Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala’s remarks on her. The Congress leader has accused the BJP of distorting facts and said he respects Hema Malini.
Hema Malini further stated that” she doesn’t need to be bothered as she has been working for 10 years and that none are against her. They are all friends and meet in Parliament. Outside, some words are said here and there. Yogi ji has replied. They stick to their party’s code of conduct. Other parties should do that too so that their leaders don’t talk like this.
Coming to Hema’s support, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has said freedom of expression should not be misused to insult women.
Hema was also asked over BJP’s Mandi candidate and actor Kangana Ranaut who too, faced derogatory remarks from the social media handles of Congress spokesperson Surpiya Shrinate who has said the now-deleted posts were made without her knowledge. Adding that Kangana is clever enough to handle that.
She has been very successful as an actress, will be very successful as a politician too.
She is for sure she will do the best concluded Hema Malini.
