Ajay Devgns Maidaan faces trouble – Mysore court stays release of the film
Even as Ajay Devgn’s produced and Amit Sharma’s directorial
hit the cinema houses, it got embroiled in legal hassles following a Karnataka-based writer having moved the court for a stay on the film accusing the makers of plagiarism in scrip on the life of India’s former football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Mysore Court has now put a stay on the release of the film.
Taking to LinkedIn handle, Anil Kumar, the Karnataka-based writer shared his side of the story. “In 2010, he started writing the story and in 2018, posted a poster about this, and got in contact with ad director Sukhdas Suryavanshi through his LinkedIn post.
He called him to Mumbai and asked him. to get the script. He had the entire chat history. He told him that he’d make me meet Aamir Khan, but he.couldn’t meet him for certain reasons., but gave him the story and registered the same with the Screen writers Association.
The writer went on to add that recently, he heard that a movie named Maidaan is getting released. He was surprised because even he has the same story. When he looked at the teaser and their statements, he got to know that it was my story.
They have twisted the main story itself and made this movie. He named the story Paadakanduk Sukhdas Suryavanshi served as an assistant director of ‘Maidaan’.
Anil moved to Principal district and session court in Mysore accusing the makers of plagiarism. The court then ordered a stay on the film’s release. The next hearing is scheduled for April 24.
The biographical sports drama film, scripted and directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, chronicles the life and journey of Syed Abdul Rahim, an esteemed football coach.
‘Maidaan’, which also features Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh, released in theatres on April 11, 2024 on the occasion of EID..
