According to Trade Analyst Komal Nahta, It has been the worst Eid in decades. He outlines the box-office debacle of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan as rudely shocking, adding that the numbers are so abysmal, it has left the industry reeling.’
The debacle has had a deep impact on the further release dates of films in the pipeline.
Varun Dhawan’s Baby John, scheduled for May 31st release, as of now stands postponed. Source reveals that the VFX work is incomplete and some key action scenes are reportedly being shot. This is an ambitious film and the producers want to ensure the VFX matches international standards.’’ Hence the film will now scout for a fresh release date.
Taking advantage of the first Friday after IPL, considered ‘very good by the film trade’, Karan Johar has gone ahead to announce the release of the Janhvi Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao starrer Mr & Mrs Mahi.
In the backdrop of ‘Sawaan Ka Mahina’, while unsubstantiated reports maintain that Neeraj Pandey’s Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha featuring Ajay Devgn and Tabu may also get pushed ahead of its June release date, none from the immediate crew or cast has indicated of the new release date.
Infact, June also has two other important releases, Shankar’s Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan and Kabir Khan’s Chandu Champion with Kartik Aaryan.

As per filmmaker and film-trade analyst Girish Johar in Diwali or any big festival two mega films. Could be released and If the movies are good, people will patronise both.
Johar also feels that a single flop doesn’t effect Ajay Devgn adding the debacle of Maidaan has not impacted the
actor-filmmaker. He is a seasoned player and.people need to remember that he gave an out-of-the-box hit like Shaitaan a month before Maidaan. Hits and flops do not really affect his standing in the industry after three decades.
Release dates of films have now emerged as a game of musical chairs.
Even the unexpected debacle of Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Mein, and the impact on fortunes, industry however denies it. However, just because people are being optimistic, it does not mean catastrophe has not struck,’’ The makers must concentrate on putting out better content. Leaving things to chance is not good, especially when there are crores at stake. Not to forget the careers of thousands of people. Why blame the public for not patronising cinema? Everyone should cross their hearts and ask—”Have they given cinema their best shot?”
