Yesteryear actress Mumtaz recalls her recent to Pakistan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan sang for her. She also advocated over lifting the ban on Pakistani artistes.

Mumtaz shared a glimpse from her recent visit to Pakistan, giving her fans a peek into her meeting with artistes like Fawad Khan, Ghulam Ali, Ashan Khan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, she advocated ‘lifting the ban’ on Pakistani artistes in India.

The actor, who was in Pakistan and was accompanied by her sister Mallika amidst her interview, revealed that the Kapoor & Sons actor booked an entire restaurant for her while Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, known for belting out numbers like “Teri Ore,” “Ore Piya,” “Jag Soona Soona Lage,’ etc, sang for Mumtaz despite not keeping well.

For the unversed, a ban on Pakistani artistes working in India was implemented in the aftermath of the Pulwama terror attack in 2016. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s cinema wing had warned filmmakers against working with Pakistani artists with the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) stating that they won’t work with Pakistani artistes, citing “security” and “patriotism” as some reasons not to allow them to work in India.

In 2023, the Bombay High Court rejected a plea to ban Pakistani singers and actors from working in India.
