On International Dance Day, choreographers share favourite movie dance sequences
Over its 110-year history,
dance numbers have always been an integral part of Indian films creating their own brand. According to Historians in the 50s-90s, actresses in Hindi films had to be trained dancers as a must.
Recently, when Madhuri Dixit Nene and Karisma Kapoor recreated their iconic revenge dance from Dil To Pagal Hai on Dance Deewane, the video went viral in no time. Fans are so obsessed with dance numbers that it’s not unusual to see Indian moviegoers dancing in the aisles amidst multiple screenings.
