Mumbai Civic Body honors Sridevi with “Sridevi Kapoor Chowk” in Lokhandwala
Legendary actress Sridevi enthralled the cinegoers and her legions of fans spread across the world with her exceptional talent and beauty for decades. She continues to be honored even after her departure to the immortal world in 2018.
As part of their transcendental
tribute, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has renamed a junction in Lokhandwala Complex as ‘Sridevi Kapoor Chowk’.
Ostensibly this particular location held special significance for Sridevi. Not only did she reside at the Green Acres building on the same road, but her funeral procession also passed through this area.
Notedly, the decision to rename the junction reflects the deep respect and admiration the local community holds for the actress, with both residents and the municipality advocating for this special recognition.
Even as the ‘Sridevi Kapoor Chowk’ is a touching tribute, discussions over a biopic exploring the actress’ life have also sparked interest.
But, husband, Boney Kapoor, expresses reservations over the project, citing Sridevi’s private nature. In an interview he articulated that Sri was a very private person, and her life should remain private. He doesn’t think there ever will be. Till the time he lives, he will not allow this to happen.
Apart from these, Sridevi also headlined recently as Airbnb included the mansion, bought by the late actress, in its list of 11 Icons properties that people can now rent out. “His most cherished childhood memories are of spending summer with his family at their coastal oasis in Chennai. This home has always felt like a sanctuary, and he wants to share that same feeling with his fans and which is why for the first time ever, he is opening their home up to a few guests to have the full Kapoor family experience.
That means a lot of relaxing—eating South Indian food, doing yoga, and trying her mother’s natural skin care recipes. O
