Former KKR NZ batter Collin Munro resigns for being ignored for ICC T20 World Cup 2024
In the midst of the list of names for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024
being announced, New Zealand batter Collin Munro decides to hang his boots from international cricket. The white-ball specialist, has represented the Blackcaps in T20 World Cups and is much upset from being ignored for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Infact, he was hoping to play for New Zealand once again.
The Munro has featured in over 100 games for New Zealand, but his one and only Test match came against South Africa in 2013. It was overshadowed by a stellar white-ball career in which he scored three centuries and nineteen half-centuries for his nation.
Munro scored 3 centuries in his T20I career and is one of the 7 batters to smash 3 tons in the shortest format of the game.
The former opener was an important part of the Kiwi team that played the exciting 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final against England. He has represented New Zealand in the T20 World Cups in 2014 and 2016.
Munro resignation comes into immediate effect, however, he will continue to play for franchises in leagues. Looking back on his career, Munro stated that playing for New Zealand was unquestionably the highest point of his care er.
His greatest accomplishment as a player has always been to play for the Black Caps. He will always be proud of the fact that he was able to do that 123 times across all formats and has always felt proud wearing the NZ jersey.
Even though it has been a long since he played for NZ, he never lost faith that he could be able to make a comeback based on his T20 form for different franchises.
With the announcement of the Black Caps team for the T20 World Cup, he believes now is the ideal time to officially call time on international career.
In the Indian Premier League(IPL), he was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.
