Maidaan’s disaster at box-office impacts distributors and exhibitors-Boney Kapoor opens up
With ‘Maidaan’ a biopic on the legendary Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim featuring Ajay Devgn essaying the character having proved to be disastrous, filmmaker Boney Kapoor who has made the film at a whopping Rs.50 crores has in a recent media interaction revealed that he is terribly upset over the debacle of the film at the box-office. He went on to add that Rs 50 crore nett mark and is touted as one of the biggest disasters in Ajay Devgn’s career.
In his latest interview, one of the leading Bollywood filmmakers Boney Kapoor, who produced Maidaan, reflected on the film’s disastrous result.
He went on to add that theThe subject they chose was fantastic, and the actor (Ajay Devgn) was superb, but somehow they didn’t recognize the demands of the audience.
The audiences today want all front-footed action films like RRR, Jawan, and Pathaan.
Infact, since the past few months, following the massive success of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan and Jawaan and low-budget movies such as 12th Fail, Bollywood has been reeling through a rough weather. The distributors and exhibitors are waiting for the Hindi versions of the big ticket Telugu movies such as Pushpa The Rule, Kalki, Game Changer, and Devara to bail them out.
Further adding that somehow they failed to recognize the demands of the audience who today need all front-footed action films like RRR, Jawan, and Pathaan to bail them out.
