The rain God atlast showed some consideration to Mumbaikars as heavy rains accompanied with gusty winds, thunderstorm and lighting brought the much needed relief from sweltering heat in Mumbai, Thane and adjoining areas.
In Andheri(West) gusty winds ripped tin sheets of some Food vendors near the Lower Oshiwara Metro Station and many people were seem clicking pictures. At the metro station escalators stopped working and lights went off for few seconds. According to some people near Navy Nagar traffic movement grinded to a halt due to the gusty winds which sent leaves flying.
According to the Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) yellow alert has been issued for Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Solapur, Latur, Beed, Nagpur, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
These regions are much likely to expect thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds (30-40kmph) at isolated places.
The Weather Bureau in a post on X wrote wrote of a possibility of light rain with thundershower in evening/night over the next 24 hours and that the maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 35°C and 28°C respectively.
Whereas, an orange alert has been issued for Pune, Satara, Sangli, Nashik, Kolhapur, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Jalna and Parbhani districts.
Rushikesh Agre, an independent meteorologist, posted on X that
heavy to intense rain ahead for the next 2 hours in Thane & Palghar, Kalyan, Badlapur and interiors. Advises residents to stay indoors. Wind speeds will be very high and massive at 40-50 kmph. More intense rain in Interiors.
Also, some districts of Marathwada are likely to witness thundershowers at many places, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph), light to moderate rain.
RMC’s forecast for Tuesday is thatc isolated pockets of Mumbai are likely to experience hot and humid conditions.
Thane and Palghar: Heat wave very likely in Thane and Palghar with possibility of rain or thundershowers towards evening.
In Raigad there is likely of hunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds (30-40kmph).
Meanwhile, several X users also took to microblogging site to share photos and videos of rain and dusty winds.
