Actress Manisha Koirala meets UK PM Rishi Sunak to rejoice UK – Nepal relations

Manisha Koirala, who recently headlined for her portrayal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi’, met UK PM Rishi Sunak at his 10 Downing Street.

She was there to rejoice the 100 years ‘friendship treaty’ shared by UK and Nepal. Manisha represented her country, Nepal, at the meeting and was astounded to learn that most of the people present at the PM’s house had watched her latest web series, ‘Heeramandi’.

Taking to her Instagram, the actress shared a series of pictures with PM Sunak from the meeting. Along with the pictures the actress wrote,
that it was an honour to be invited to 10 Downing Street to rejoice United Kingdom – Nepal relations and 100 years of friendship treaty. It was much pleasure to hear the Prime Minister speak fondly of Nepal.

The actress further wrote,that she took the privilege of inviting the P.M. and his family to trek to Everest Base Camp.

The star-studded cast of the series also includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Shekhar Suman, and Fardeen Khan. ‘Heeramandi’ started streaming on Netflix from May 1.
In Sanjay leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Manisha Koirala plays the lead role of Mallikajaan, and aced the role with grace.

‘Heeramandi’ revolves around India’s esteemed tawaifs, also known as courtesans, navigating life amidst the struggle for independence from British rule in 1920.

Manisha stepped into the world of acting with the Nepali film ‘Pheri Bhetaula’ in 1989 and in 1991 she featured in the Hindi film ‘Saudagar’.

Notably, She featured in several acclaimed movies – ‘1942: A Love Story’, ‘Bombay’, ‘Indian’, ‘Gupt: The Hidden Truth’, ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’, ‘Dil Se..’, ‘Kachche Dhaage’, and ‘Ek Chhotisi Love Story’, among many others.
