Sridevi still exists in the hearts of her fans
Legendary actress Sridevi may not be in our midst, but, she still has a special place in the hearts of her fans. She is acknowledged as among one of the most influential actresses of the film industry. She was a superstar and once the highest-paid actress who ruled not only Bollywood, but also the South film industry with her outstanding acting prowess.
Not many know that once this successful actress faced such trouble with Sanjay Dutt. She even refused to work with him.
Sanjay Dutt and Sridevi were once a much-loved pair among the audience after they appeared together in Mahesh Bhatt’s 1993’s action crime drama film Gumrah.
Notwithstanding the fact that the film was a success, the couple never collaborated on another project again.
As per reports, Sridevi had refused to work with Sanjay Dutt even during Gumrah, but she still signed the film but the two never spoke to each other on set. Sridevi would depart from the film set without talking or even looking at him.
Sanjay Dutt himself had revealed in an interview in 1993 to Filmfare that he once went to meet Sridevi on the sets of Himmatwala as he was her big fan. When he could not find her on the set, he barged into her makeup room. After seeing him drunk, Sridevi was scared and shocked. It was reportedly because of this incident that Sridevi decided to not to work with Sanjay Dutt again.
After this incident, Sridevi was required to sign a contract with Sanjay Dutt for the film Zameen. Even at this point, she put forward a condition that she would only work in the film if she was not required to share a single scene with him. The movie never saw the light of day.
Before she left to the immortal world, Sridevi was last seen in Hindi crime thriller film Mom. It was helmed by Ravi Udyawa, with a screenplay by Girish Kohli. Mom released on July 7, 2017 in four languages and was a global blockbuster, grossing Rs 175.7 crore worldwide.
Sridevi was found dead after an accidental drowning in her guest room at Dubai’s Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in February 2018.
