To commemorate Zoya Akhtar’s
acclaimed journey in the Indian Film Industry for 15 years, PVR Inox Cinemas’ luxury arm, The Luxury Collection, proudly announced the unveiling of PVR Inox Lido, Juhu, in juxtaposition
with a special retroactive
film festival.
The week-long festival will
exhibit a selection of Zoya Akhtar’s widely loved films including ‘Luck By Chance,’ ‘Dil Dhadakne Do,’ ‘Talaash,’ ‘Gully Boy,’ and ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.’
2024 marks an acclaimed landmark for Zoya Akhtar, who made her directorial debut with ‘Luck By Chance’ in 2009, featuring Farhan Akhtar and Konkana Sen Sharma.
Over the past 15 years, Zoya has made a remarkable career characterized by a diverse and groundbreaking filmography spanning various genres and mediums, including theatrical releases, OTT films, and web series. Her stories consistently break conventional norms while resonating with a broad audience.
Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, the powerhouse duo behind Excel Entertainment, have been instrumental in revolutionizing storytelling in Hindi cinema. In collaboration with Tiger Baby, they have delivered unforgettable iconic hits. These movies not only entertain but also provide profound journeys that touch hearts and spark conversations.
With themes of love, ambition, and self-discovery, Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, and Excel Entertainment continue to reshape Indian cinema’s narrative landscape.
To commemorate this occasion,the PVR INOX Ltd. initiative hosted an engaging conversation featuring Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, and Reema Kagti alongside Ajay Bijli, Chairman & MD of PVR Cinemas. This discussion delved into the art of filmmaking and Zoya’s journey in the movies.
Coming to the retrospective , Zoya Akhtar said, that when she heard about this retrospective, she was excited because her films are going to be on the big screen again and she loves the movies. This industry has got all her heart, do not want to be anywhere else, this is her home and she also highlighted the significance of the new PVR Inox Lido cinema, saying, that the new PVR Lido cinema really gives the youth a chance to watch older films that may have been before their time – it’s a real gift.
Reema Kagti showered praises on Zoya’s contribution to Indian cinema, stating that Zoya has been one of the defining voices of modern Hindi cinema.
And on the retrospective, Farhan Akhtar asserted that this ‘means a lot to them and she would like to thank Ajay for encouraging people to return to theaters and making it a great experience. She herself has fond memories of watching films back in the days.
Further about the catalogue of movies being screened here, he said, proud of Zoya’s unique voice in filmmaking. As a collaborator, producer, and brother, she couldn’t be happier.
