Meghna Gulzar ropes in Ayushmann Khurrana and Kareena Kapoor for her next
Following the success of her last directorial ‘Sam Bahadur’, Meghna Gulzar now plans to make a film inspired by the horrifying 2019 Hyderabad rape case. Reportedly, she is in advanced conversations with Ayushmann Khurrana and Kareena Kapoor
As per a source close to the production house, the project is hard-hitting that warrants the presence of actors with the calibre of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ayushmann Khurrana. The actors after reading the script were left shocked by the details of the case. This project comes after ‘Talvar,’ that could shock the nation and stir a conversation about the case.
Meghna plans to kick-off the film by the end of this year and wishes for its theatrical release by 2025.
Notably, Meghna has researched on the subject over the last few years and had strong source material in place for her screenplay. She was startled by all that happened.
Kareena and Ayushmann resonated with the emotions and are looking forward to teaming up on this special project. If Kareena and Ayushmann come on board, this will mark their first collaboration, and will also be for the first time Meghna will be working with these two actors.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kareena Kapoor was most recently seen in Rajesh A Krishnan’s directorial ‘Crew’ alongside Tabu and Kriti Sanon. The film was a heist comedy and earned rave reviews from the audience. The actress will next be seen in Rohit Shetty’s cop drama ‘Singham Again’ along with Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, and Arjun Kapoor. On the other hand, Ayushmann Khurrana was last seen in the 2023 film ‘Dream Girl 2’ alongside Ananya Panday.
