Veteran actor Sharmila Tagore was wedded to the Indian Film Industry for over six decades now having acted in many movies that turned out to be box-office success.

Infact, many members of her family are in the movies, including her son Saif Ali Khan, granddaughter Sara Ali Khan and even her daughter-in-law Kareena Kapoor. In a recent media interaction, the veteran actress opened up on Kareena’s recently released film Crew. While showering praises, she articulated that the film was “absurd beyond belief,” and the film’s success at the box office was worth taking note as it will encourage producers to back films fronted by female actors. The film also featured Tabu and Kriti Sanon.

While speaking to an entertainment channel, Sharmila called Crew an “entertaining” film, but there are three women pulling off this adventure. One is landing a plane, one breaking a safe, doing all kinds of things together and the camaraderie amid the three is excellent as they say a woman is a woman’s worst enemy, not so here.

She also pointed out that, besides from being entertaining, Crew was a commercial success, which will further pave the way for better films and roles for female actors. “Crew has done very well. Three women have done well and making it a successful film at the box-office.

Sharmila also spoke about Deepika Padukone’s film Piku and the recent hit Kiran Rao’s directorial Laapataa Ladies, saying that such films are a reminder that cinema is changing and films with female actors in the lead should be given more support.

Crew earned almost Rs 90 crore at the domestic box office, and is the third highest grosser of the year after Fighter and Shaitaan. While Fighter, featuring Roshan, grossed
Rs 200 crore in India, whereas Shaitaan, featuring Ajay Devgn, grossed Rs 150 crore in the domestic market.
