Renowned choreographer turned filmmaker Farah Khan recalled how Mithun Chakraborty caused a stampede amidst the picturisation for her film
“Om Shanti Om” and his fans turned Shah Rukh Khan into their photographer

Farah Khan recalled that regardless the presence of various stars, there was a stampede on the set of Om Shanti Om when Mithun Chakraborty came to shoot the “Deewangi Deewangi” song.

Notedly, Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om remains one of the most unique Hindi films of recent times, and what’s more the song ‘Deewangi Deewangi’ featured many of the biggest names of the Hindi film industry. In the midst of a media interaction, she revealed that the frenzy was so intense that for a few moments, Shah Rukh Khan was sidelined .

Farah further recounted that she couldn’t believe that fans were so crazy for Mithun

Mithun reported late for the shoot. Since he was the President of the Cine Worker’s Union the technicians and spot boys surrounded him to welcome him to the set.
They literally gave their phones to Shah Rukh to click their photos with Mithun da making him a photographer.

The Deewangi song composed by Vishal-Shekhar from the lyrics pened by Javed Akhtar, featured cameos by 31 actors from the Hindi film industry that included Dharmendra, Salman Khan, Dino Morea, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta, Shilpa Shetty, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol, Juhi Chawla, Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Rekha, Shabana Azmi, Vidya Balan Tabu to name a few.

Farah also went on to mention that Govinda too came late to shoot for the Deewangi
In an earlier interview on IFTDA Official’s YouTube channel, Farah revealed how Shah Rukh Khan, who was also the producer of Om Shanti Om, gifted goodie bags worth Rs 1 lakh to all the actors who attended the shoot of the song. The female actors got to keep the costumes, designed by Manish Malhotra after the shoot of the song.
