Who can forget the star-studded song “Deewangi Deewangi” from Shah Rukh Khan’s film Om Shanti Om?
The party number that featured the the biggies of Bollywood, Rekha, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, Vidya Balan, Lara Dutta, Shilpa Shetty, Priyanka Chopra, Tabu, and Rani Mukerji. But, many may not be versed that SRK parted with the most “expensive” gifts to all the celebrities who made guest appearances? Well, Tabu also part of the song, recalled that there was a shot that all of us for director Farah and it was great fun. They made for her some great clothes, great hair, and makeup, and all received very expensive gifts from Shah Rukh Khan.” Om Shanti Om released in 2007 and reportedly marked Deepika Padukone’s debut film.
Last year, Farah Khan, who also choreographed Deewangi Deewangi, revealed how she wanted Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan to feature in the song. In a conversation with Maniesh Paul on his podcast, she articulated that they called a lot of stars who eventually never turned up.Amitabh Bachchan couldn’t make since that time around it was the wedding of Abhishek with Aishwarya.
Farah while revealing how Aamir Khan gave the “funniest” excuse, added, he kept her hanging and in the end, gave the reason that he was editing Taare Zameen Par. She told him to just come, and she will get it done in two hours.’ Then he called her and said, ‘Farah, he is editing and if he leaves the editing for two hours and come for the shoot, his film will be delayed for six months.’ Then she said, ‘You please don’t come.’ Later when she asked him about this reason, he said, he never wanted to come.
Om Shanti Om and Taare Zameen Par got released in the same year – 2007. While Om Shanti Om hit the big screens on November 9, Taare Zameen Par premiered on December 21.
