When the Gokhale Bridge in Mumbai was opened to the public on February 26 after two years, it was a joyous moment for Andheri residents as it would ease traffic congestion, emerging as a crucial east-west connectivity link. However, commuters soon found that it was a bridge to nowhere as the “engineering marvel”, as touted by Mumbai’s civic body, had a six-foot-long gap between it and the connecting flyover – the CD Barfiwala Bridge.
