Gokhale bridge Barfiwala flyover work completed in 78 days
After memes and criticism by the opposition, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has eventually “completed the challenging work” of bridging the gap in a record-breaking 78 days.
Now the CD Barfiwala flyover and Gopalkrishna Gokhale bridge alignment will ease travel amid Andheri East and West
Earlier, the bridges had a six-foot-long gap, but, the
BMC called the bridge an ‘engineering marvel’ when it
was inaugurated in February.
When the Gokhale Bridge in Mumbai was opened to the public on February 26 after two years, it was a joyous moment for Andheri residents as it would ease traffic congestion, emerging as a crucial east-west connectivity link. However, commuters soon found that it was a bridge to nowhere as the “engineering marvel”, as touted by Mumbai’s civic body, had a six-foot-long gap between it and the connecting flyover – the CD Barfiwala Bridge.
Reportedly, following memes and opposition criticism, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has finally “completed the challenging work” of bridging the gap in a record-breaking 78 days.
