Bollywood loses Veteran actress Smriti Biswas at 100
This year Bollywood has lost some film personalities. The recent one is Veteran actress Smriti Biswas at her residence in Nashik city of Maharashtra due to age-related issues. The actress has worked in a number of Hindi, Marathi and Bengali films, and co-featured Dev Anand, Kishore Kumar and Balraj Sahni.
A noted yesteryear actor, she was living in a one-room-kitchen rented flat in Nashik Road area here.
Having embarked on her acting career as a child artist she featured in movies of notable filmmakers Guru Dutt,
V Shantaram, Mrinal Sen, Bimal Roy, BR Chopra and Raj Kapoor.
She made her debut in the world of films with the Bengali movie “Sandhya” and “Model Girl” was her last Hindi film.
Biswas quit acting after marrying filmmaker S D Narang.
Following her husband’s death, she moved to Nashik.
The veteran actress celebrated her 100th birthday on February 17, 2024. She leaves behind two sons Rajeev and Satyajeet.
