After weeks following the result Leader of the opposition and Rae Bareilly MP Rahul Gandhi urged people to refrain from using derogatory remarks against Smriti Irani. Smriti had lost the Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh to veteran Congress worker and poll debutant Kishori Lal Sharma by a margin of 1.6 lakh votes in the Lok Sabha elections.

This came weeks after the results of the Lok Sabha elections were announced.

Rahul raking to social media platform X, wrote: “Winning and losing happen in life. He urges everyone to refrain from using derogatory language and being nasty towards Smt. Smriti Irani or any other leader for that matter.”

He added, “Humiliating and insulting people is a sign of weakness, not strength.

In the general election results announced on June 4, Irani had lost the Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh to veteran Congress worker and poll debutant Kishori Lal Sharma.
