There are some films which cannot be envisioned sans Amitabh Bachchan..His angry young man avatar and style of delivering heavy dialogues have all been unparalleled..

However it often happens in the film industry, that many actors are approached for a film but only one of them get selected.

Similar happened with the Yash Chopra directorial ‘Deewar’. Amitabh Bachchan was not the first choice. Yash Chopra had approached Shatrughan Sinha,
but, busy at that time with other projects he regretted his inability to do the film.

However, when the script of the film was placed before Amitabh Bachchan, he immediately gave his nod to work in the film with no hesitation. The rest spelled history. Audiences loved his character as Vijay Verma and his fan base increased.

‘Deewar’ hit the theatres in 1975 . Besides Amitabh Bachchan, it also featured Shashi Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Parveen Babi, Iftikhar, Madan Puri, Satyen Kappu, and Manmohan Krishna. The film was made on an approximate budget of Rs 1.30 crore whereas the film collected
Rs 7.50 crore at the box office.

For the unversed, Amitabh Bachchan was not the first choice for the film that played such an impactful role in his career. As per reports, at first the makers approached Shatrughan Sinha, but, busy at that time with other projects at he regretted his inability to do the film.
