After relentless spells of rain continued early Monday, flooding low lying areas like Andheri subway, Khar subway the severity took a beating as the day progressed.

After pockets of the city got marooned in over 200mm downpour, rain activity mellowed down on Monday amid a yellow alert sounded by the India Meteorological Department.

As per the weather department, the severity of showers reduced on Monday, following which another orange alert (heavy to very heavy rain) warning was sounded in the city and for the neighbouring district of Thane on Tuesday. The incessant heavy downpour has resulted in craters on the road in many parts of the western and central suburbs of the financial hub. This has been happening every year, but the civic body officials don’t seem to take up the issue seriously.Craters are dangerous for speeding vehicles as it could damage the axle.
