Ranbir Kapoor recounts dad Rishi Kapoor keeping him on strict budget

Ranbir Kapoor recounted his college days in Mumbai and New York and how his father, the late actor Rishi Kapoor, kept him on a shoestring budget, just enough to buy a basic meal at McDonald’s.

Ranbir embarked on
his journey in Hindi cinema as an assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali in ‘Black’ prior to making his acting debut in the director’s 2007 film Saawariya.

In a recent interaction, Ranbir recalled his college days in Mumbai and New York before joining the film industry.

Ranbir joined The School of Visual Arts in New York after completing his college in Mumbai. However, after he returned, his father decided to send him back to New York because he thought Ranbir was too young to make an acting debut. This was the time the actor in the making joined the famous Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute to learn method acting.
