Interestingly producer Nidhi Dutta, daughter of veteran filmmaker JP Dutta is all set for her upcoming Binoy Gandhi’s
directorial ‘Ghudchadi, a romantic comedy.

The film features Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Parth Samthaan and Khushalii Kumar. The trailer and the first song have garnered amazing response from the audience. The film releases on August 9 on Jio Cinema.

Apart from producing the rom-com, Nidhi is also the writer of the upcoming war film Border 2, a sequel to the 1997 film Border which was directed by her father JP Dutta and featured Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Pooja Bhatt, and many others, and the film received a massive response from the audience.

In a recent media interaction Nidhi Dutta revealed her plans for Border 2 and when asked if she can brief something about the story for the sequel, Nidhi revealed that, like the first part, even the second one will be based on the lives of real soldiers. Actually, the film is based on real characters, like all of Papa films are based on real soldiers. We had our Chief of the Defence Staff, General Bipin Ravat, who had passed away a couple of years ago. He was somebody that she really looked up to and still look up to his models and the way he stood for the nation and protected us. Of course, unfortunately, we lost him in the helicopter crash a few years ago, but he had actually sat and Papa down, and he had given us a list of stories that he would have liked to be made into movies and post that, of course, we lost him.”

Nidhi further went on to add added, that it was from those stories that she realised that there was a scope for making something that would have been a second part to Border. So that’s how the thought came about. Then, of course, she got father’s permission, and honestly, she has never written anything before. So she went on to surprise herself as well when she actually wrote it. But yeah, it’s for our soldiers. It’s the story of our soldiers, and it’s been given to us by the army. So we are very honoured, and we just hope that we can make them proud again.

Sunny Deol will be a part of Border 2. The actor delivered a blockbuster at the box office last year with Gadar 2. Does Nidhi Dutta hope the same for her movie? The producer answered, “Trust me, I’m praying about it every day. I can only pray. I cannot even explain the level of happiness that we felt when Gadar 2 succeeded. I remember when the movie succeeded and did the numbers that it did, and my dad said that it felt like a very personal victory. We’ve been close to the Deol family for so many years, and Sunny Uncle is such a big part of Papa’s career. We can only pray and hope, and we will work our hardest to make sure that we don’t let the audience down, and that we can make every Indian proud. I think, Gadar 2 is, of course, the nostalgia and the amazing movie that it was the first one, also, which I love, definitely, and the second one. But you know, Border has over the years become a very personal emotion for every Indian.”

She urges to watch a video on Sunny Deol and added that there are many memories that people seem to have that are very personal, with the song “Sandese Aate Hai and the Border movie. Every Indian, whether they’re living in India or abroad, has a memory of watching the movie. It has become a personal emotion for every Indian. So that is a very big feat for them as makers and for her as her dad’s daughter, having written the film. And of course, her grandfather had written the dialogue for the first film as well. So for her to write the story and the dialogue of this one single-handedly is a huge responsibility, and she just hopes and prays that, they don’t let people down and can do the numbers that people expect them to, but more than the numbers, she hopes that it touches people’s hearts the way the first film did.
