The rape and subsequent murder of Kolkata’ s doctor has impacted Bollywood Celebrities Priyanka Chopra, Hrithik Roshan, Suhana Khan and others. They all stand in solidarity and demand justice for the victim
The trainee doctor was found dead on August 9 in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College. Her family has alleged that she was raped and murdered, further igniting outrage and calls for an immediate and thorough investigation. As the protests continue, the nation stands united in demanding justice and an end to the violence that so frequently targets women.
The brutal rape and murder of the trainee doctor has instilled fear among the people.
Responding to the tragedy,
many Bollywood celebrities have taken to social media to voice their their outrage and call for immediate action against such heinous crimes.
Taking to his X account, Hrithik Roshan passionately emphasized the need for evolution toward a safer society and acknowledged that achieving safety for all might take generations but stressed that immediate justice demands harsh punishments that would act as a deterrent to future perpetrators. Yes..There is a need to evolve into a society where all feel equally safe. But that is going to take decades. It’s going to hopefully happen with sensitizing and empowering our sons and daughters. The next generations will be better.” Hrithik stated, reflecting the widespread indignation against the continued violence against women.
He further added, that we will get there finally, but what in the interim ? Right now justice would be to put a hard stop to such atrocities. And the only way to do that is a punishment so harsh that it scares the living daylights out of such perpetrators. That’s what we need. Perhaps ? He stands with the victim’s family in seeking justice for their daughter and also with all the Doctors attacked.
Priyanka Chopra, acknowledged for using her platform for advocacy, reposted a powerful image from a protest on her Instagram Stories. The image depicted a protester holding a sign asking, “Who will speak for her if you don’t?” She accompanied the post with a sad emoji.
