Notedly, Jaya Bachchan has been a part of some truly iconic movies in Hindi cinema, with memorable performances in films like Guddi, Koshish, Mili, and Sholay. Her contribution to these classics embedded her place as one of the most talented actresses of her time.

After the blockbuster success of the Prakash Mehra’s directorial” Zanjeer” released in 1973, Jaya Bhaduri tied the knot to Amitabh Bachchan, to become Jaya Bachchan, marking the beginning of one of Bollywood’s most iconic couples. The couple then moved from flat to a Juhu bungalow, likewise, Prakash Mehra too moved from flat to a bungalow in Juhu.

Hrishikesh Mukherji’s directorial Abhimaan transformed her entire decision.

The film featured Amitabh Bachchan Jaya Bhaduri and explores the complexities of marriage and the challenges that come with success.

In the movie, Amitabh’s character, Subir, is a successful singer who becomes insecure when his wife, Uma, played by Jaya, starts gaining more popularity than him. The film vividly captures the emotional turmoil and the impact of ego on relationships. Its portrayal of these themes continues to garner widespread discussion, cementing its timeless classic status.

Jaya Bachchan once shared that when Hrishikesh Mukherjee, fondly known as Hrishi Kaku, offered her Abhimaan, she was on the verge of retirement. The actress was on the verge of wrapping up her assignments to get married. Hrishi Da insisted that she had to do Abhimaan, and Jaya felt she couldn’t refuse him. Looking back, the actress expressed her gratitude to the director for giving her the opportunity to do the film and admitted that not doing it would have been a regret, even though she generally doesn’t regret anything.

As reported, to prepare for her role as Uma, Jaya Bachchan observed the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar closely. The actress used to show up at Lataji’s recording sessions for Abhimaan’s songs to study her mannerisms. Lataji was kind about it, but Jaya believed that the singer might have wondered why she kept showing up during her recordings. Everyone who knew Lataji noticed Jaya’s effective imitation of Lataji’s song-recording style when the film came out. Jaya also believed that Abhimaan had one of Hindi cinema’s finest soundtracks, with every song being a gem.

Meanwhile, Jaya Bachchan last appeared in Karan Johar’s directorial Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and the romantic comedy also featured Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi.
