There was an era in the life of Amitabh when he determined never to share screen space with Madhuri Dixit.
It’s well-known Amitabh Bachchan, the legend of Bollywood, and Madhuri Dixit, a dancing diva, made their own indelible mark in the industry. Both have accomplished recognition and success in the industry for which credit goes to their tremendous acting skills.
Both the actors were flooded with
many projects to work together in a film.
They first got an opportunity to appear in film Bandua released in 1989. However, due to unforseen causes and reasons some reasons, the shoot take’off .
Also, they had an offer for Rituparno Ghosh’s film and he wanted to rope in Amitabh Bachchan for the role of Satyajit Ray and Madhuri Dixit for the role of Madhabi Mukherjee.
But following the Ray family’s objection,
the film couldn’t see the light of day.
There was a time in Madhuri’s career when all her films were proving a debacle in box-office. one after the other. The duo have worked in several films including Hifazat, Tezaab, Ram Lakhan, Parinda, Kishen Kanhaiya, Jamai Raja, Beta, Khel. Their pairing was considered a superhit and many filmmakers wanted to sign them together.
After Madhuri’s super hit saga, she was again offered a film opposite Amitabh, But Anil Kapoor advised her to say no the film as he did not want Madhuri’s pairing to fit with any other actor. Madhuri listened Anil Kapoor’s advise. But then came time when the Indian actor started to see a downfall in his career. The actress started avoiding doing films with him and looked for opportunities to work opposite Amitabh Bachchan, as he became a superstar by that time.
Madhuri got an opportunity to collaborate with the Senior Bachchan in Tinu Anand’s directorial 1988 released film ‘Shinakht’. But amidst the shoot something happened that made the actor quite aggressive and he decided he would never work with Madhuri again.
Well, it was said, that Madhuri was showing a lot of arrogance on the sets. She used to suggest a lot of changes in the script, that used to irritate Bachchan. Madhuri felt that her role was weaker than Amitabh’s so halfway, she left the film. The film got shelved and Amitabh Bachchan swore not to work with her again in any film.
