Pak actress Mahira Khan recounts lesson learned from Shah Rukh
Pakistani actress Mahira Khan recounted a valuable lesson she learned from Shah Rukh Khan while on shoot for ‘Raees’.
Taking to her X (formerly Twitter), she wrote Ask Mahira, inviting her fans to submit questions.
When questioned on what she learned from SRK, Mahira only responded with those timeless words, “Give happiness a chance, baby.”
At the 2016 Faiz International Festival, Mahira also recounted the incident that best encapsulated her family’s reaction when they found out she would be featuring . Shah Rukh Khan. The actress’s family couldn’t believe their eyes at first. When the actress clarified she was in fact teamed opposite SRK, her mother broke down in happy tears upon hearing the news.
Mahira also talked on how she bagged her role in ‘Raees’ and shared that she had learned about a “big film” while promoting her earlier soap opera, ‘Humsafar’. She was confused over the details when she discovered that it was an Excel production. But when she demanded the script, she received the answer, “What yaar! It is a Shah Rukh Khan film”.
Mahira’s highly regarded film The Legend of Maula Jatt is scheduled to release in Indian theatres on October 2, 2024.
Interestingly, after over ten years, a Pakistani film is making its Indian premiere for the first time. The film, which also features Fawad Khan, would initially be shown in a small number of Punjabi theaters.
The ‘Legend of Maula Jatt’ turned out to be the highest-earning film in Pakistan after its 2022 release, setting box office records along the way. The producer quoted that it has a bright future in India and has a great chance to become a huge hit.
Initially it was decided to limit the movie’s release to Punjab to avoid any controversy or negative feedback and to find out how Indians now feel about Pakistani movies. If the agency receives a positive reaction, it may decide to allow its release in other states of the country.
Centered around on the 1979 Pakistani film of the same name,
‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ depicts the animosity between the characters Maula Jatt and Noori Natt, played by Fawad Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi, respectively.
