SRK recalls Aryan’s case in Jawan award-winning speech at IIFA 2024
Shah Rukh Khan won the esteemed IIFA 2024 awards for his exceptional performance in Jawan, taking home the Best Actor in a Leading Role trophy which was presented to him by
AR Rahman and veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam.
The action-thriller, also featured Vijay Sethupathi and Deepika Padukone.
Notably the biggies in the Hindi film business gathered in Abu Dhabi for the second day of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) 2024.
Winners among other nominees in the same category included Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail, Ranbir Kapoor for Animal, Ranveer Singh for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Vicky Kaushal for Sam Bahadur, and Sunny Deol for Gadar 2.
Shah Rukh Khan amidst thanking all other nominees in the category, said, that he thinks all of them were great, but he got an edge because people were happy that he (SRK) worked after so long. He took everyone by shock when he mentioned the Aryan Khan case in his acceptance speech.
He went on to add that ‘someone reminded him that money needs to be out into a film. So he wanted to thank Gauri. She may be the only wife who’s spending more on the husband than the other way round. They were reeling through a tough phase while making Jawan (referring to the Aryan Khan case).
For those unversed, who don’t remember, early in October 2021, Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan was taken into custody in relation to the drugs case on the Mumbai cruise.
It took over four weeks and multiple court appearances before Aryan was released on bond. The Narcotics Control Bureau cleared him of all charges in the narcotics case eight months later. The video instantly went viral on social media.
Shah Rukh Khan’s fans and followers dropped hearts and heart-eye emojis in the comment section. One of the users wrote, “Aah the best feeling in the world to see this man – Shah Rukh Khan happy.” Another user said, “Why isn’t anyone talking about how Shahrukh Khan respectfully bowed to Japanese award presenter Nobutaka Suzuki at IIFA2024?! After touching Mani Ratnam’s feet and hugging Rahman SRK once again showed his humility by honoring global traditions.” The third user asked, “By tough time, does he mean his son’s drug case.”
Apart from taking home the award at the IIFA 2024, Shah Rukh hosted this year’s awards show. The actor and Vicky Kaushal took turns hosting. Both were seen having a great time in videos that were shared on social media. They were also spotted grooving to many tunes, such as Tauba Tauba and Oo Antava. Karan Johar also joined them for a short while. The trio grooved to Pathaan’s Jhoome Jo Pathaan.
