Raajkumar reunited after 32 years with Saudagar

Be it Amitabh Bachchan Dharmendra, Dev Anand Shashi Kapoor Rajesh Khanna Akshay Kumar Anil Kapoor etc, they won the hearts of their fans and the audience with their performance in films even till today.

But, there were two actors who didn’t collaborate for 32 long years and when they
re-united, they made a massive impact at the box-office. They are Dilip Kumar and Raaj Kumar in Saudagar.
It was a clash of the Titans in the 1991 released film directed by showman Subhash Ghai. Their individual starpower was simply mindblowing. In the film they were close friends but turned bitter enemies.

Both the legendary actors were renowned for their impactful dialogues. They first teamed up in the 1959 film Paigham, which turned out to become the second highest-grossing film of that year. Paigham was such a big hit at the box office that it was remade in Tamil as Irumbu Thirai.

Dilip Kumar and Raaj Kumar’s on screen camaraderie became the talk of the town and the song Imli Ka Boota picturised on them became an anthem of friendship akin to Yeh Dosti from Sholay.

Saudagar also marked the debut of Manisha Koirala and Vivek Mushran. The film was a huge blockbuster at the box office and is rated among the top 10 highest grossing films of the 90s decade at the box-office.

Meanwhile, notwithstanding the release of Sunny Deol and Sanjay Dutt starrer Yodha and Ajay Devgn’s debut film Phool Aur Kaante that same year, both films fell short in terms of earnings compared to Saudagar.
