When Sudha Murty wanted two priceless gifts from Ratan Tata
Recently, Sudha Murty honored the memory of the late industrialist Ratan Tata with a heartfelt tribute.
Deliberating on the national icon,Ratan Tata, the author and philanthropist referred to him as “a legend” and remarked that his passing signaled the close of a significant chapter in history.
Elaborating further on the former Chairman of Tata & Sons, she said that he was a âman of integrity further adding she is all praise for the way he cared about the well-being of his employees.
Murty recalled an incident when she had invited him to visit her college. (BBB College Of Engineering).. While she was apprehensive that he would not be able to meet her request as her alma mater was located in a small town, he took her by surprise when he turned up and spent a day there. That incident left her awe-struck at his simplicity.
She went on to add that he was “a man of his words” . She recalled how in the early â90s, she had requested two pictures of Jamshedji Tata (the founder of the Tata Group) and JRD Tata (the former chairman of the Tata Group) and he got her the two pictures at a momentâs notice. She revealed she still had the two pictures at her office.
She also opened up that she used to come across him a lot at the Tata Institute and he was always enthusiastic about innovations. âHe was always eager to know about new things and was very warmâŠShe now miss him.
Murty also commended the late entrepreneur for having âenormous patience as he also inspired her to be patient.
She further added, he was a generous human being with a generous spirit
Murty revealed that she âlearned philanthropy in the house of the Tatas stating that Tata was very generous and the coffers of the Tata Trust were open for any worthy cause.
Meanwhile, She admitted that his passing away was a âpersonal lossâ to her.
