Twinkle Khanna recalls climbing a hill to relieve herself amidst shoot
Twinkle Khanna had to climb a hill to relieve herself amidst a shoot because there were no washrooms: ‘There were men everywhere.
Twinkle Khanna shared that amidst the shoot of Jaan, when she was shooting on a hill, she had to go on another hill to relieve herself.
Veterans from the Film industry quite often talk about the good old days of filmmaking where the cast would sit under the tree and not rush inside their vanity vans as soon as their shot was over but what they don’t like to reminisce is that before the days of vanity vans, there were no washrooms for female members of the crew when they shot outdoors. Twinkle Khanna, who appeared in films like Badshah, Barsaat, Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, among others in the 1990s, recently recalled when she had to go to another hill to relieve herself as there was no place to do so on their set.
In a chat shared on her channel Tweak India, Twinkle shared, that she remembers she was on some hill and . was shooting for Jaan and it was just a hill in the middle. It was morning and she wanted to go to the washroom. She was holding it in and then afternoon came. She didn’t know what to do. Where will she go because there are men everywhere?” Twinkle said that aside from her, the only other woman on that set was her hairdresser.
She went on to share that, “Heroines are not supposed to have any bodily functions. There’s no scatology happening around us. So eventually, she couldn’t hold. It was 3 o’clock. She thought she would die. So she got into a robot, and rode herself to another hill, peed there and returned for the shoot.And after that she turned blase.”
Earlier, in granddaughter Navya Ndveli’s podcast Jaya Bachchan had shared a similar anecdote. When they used to do outdoors, we didn’t have vans had to change behind the bushes. Everything. There were not even enough washrooms and it was awkward and embarrassing.
