Sonali Kulkarni shares funny story from her time amidst ‘Mission Kashmir’ shoot
Recently, actress Sonali Kulkarni shared a funny story from her time film ‘Mission Kashmir’.
In the backdrop on her early days in the industry, Sonali talked over a moment of pure nerves amidst “bedroom scene” , a label that, in hindsight, she felt was unnecessary but had somehow stuck.
Being new to the industry, Sonali admitted she was a bit on edge. Things took an awkward turn when, after a quick costume change, her hairdresser casually asked, “You have waxed, right?” The question left her rattled. “There was a scene which everyone called ‘bedroom scene.’ It wasn’t needed to be named that all but that’s what people used to call it back then. The hairdresser, after her costume change, suddenly asked her ‘You have waxed right?’” she recalled in a conversation with the media. She was shocked, nervous, saying maybe, yes. She was wearing a gown, and got so nervous! She took her position and was just unable to concentrate. Her lips were quivering, hands were trembling!”
In the scene, Sanjay Dutt’s character says, “Today, Altaf called me abba,” to which Sonali’s character replies, he has called her ammi before.” The two share a lighthearted moment, and the scene ends with a hug amid their characters,as husband and wife. But Sonali was too jittery to focus. She kept fussing with her gown, unable to settle into the scene. Sanjay, noticing her discomfort, called her over and reassured her. “He said, ‘Ismein na, pappi bhi nahi hai, bas do dialogue hai, aur hug karna hai (this scene doesn’t even have a peck, just two lines and then a hug). He continued, ‘I am nervous, now if even you get nervous like this, then the scene just won’t happen, beta. So just relax. He is too cute!”
Following Mission Kashmir, which also featured Hrithik Roshan, Sonali went on to appear in Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai and was last seen in this year’s Love, Sitara, starring Sobhita Dhulipala.
