Taapsee Pannu opens up not paid much in ‘Dunki’

Taapsee Pannu is one of the most exceptional actresses. She has already made a mark in the industry as an actress to reckon with. Recently she made a appalling revelation over her remuneration for the film Dunki, where she featured with Shah Rukh Khan. Over a media interaction Taapsee shared that she wasn’t paid as much for the Rajkumar Hirani directorial film released in 2023.

She went on to reveal that people think that doing Judwaa or Dunki she must have been handsomely remunerated. But no, it is the opposite. She gets
paid to do more for films that are headlined by her, like a Haseen Dilruba, and other films didn’t fetch her good money. The producers are under the impression they are doing a favour by taking taking her up in that kind of a film. They feel, ‘There is already a big hero, why do they need anybody else for that?’ She fights these notions on a daily basis.

She also added that heroes decide who will be the heroine. “Now even the audience knows that heroes decide who the heroine is going to be in most of their films, until you have a very big, super successful director, who has his or her own audience. Then the director will take a call no matter what.

Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, film also features Vicky Kaushal in key roles. The film earned over Rs 300 crore at the Indian box-office.

Even though the film received a positive response from all, in an exclusive interview Rajkumar Hirani revealed that SRK was sure that even though the comedy-drama would win hearts, it wouldn’t rake the kind of figures that actioners like Jawan and Pathaan did.

On the work front, Taapsee will be next seen in Gandhari. Netflix recently shared the introduction teaser of the film. From the looks of it, the project might revolve around a mother who takes drastic steps when her children are in danger. Sharing the announcement, the OTT giant wrote, that the Hasseen writer-actor duo is back. Kanika Dhillon and Taapsee Pannu return with an action thriller. Gandhari arrives soon, only on Netflix.
