For those unversed Raj Kapoor’s daughter Ritu Nanda, was the first girl in the Kapoor Khandaan
to work in films, not Kareena Kapoor or Karishma Kapoor.
Before Karisma, Ritu Nanda was the first Kapoor girl who took up to acting and is also related to Amitabh Bachchan.
Infact,. the Kapoor Khandaan has a very old tradition that the daughters or daughter-in-law of the family were not allowed to work in the film industry after marriage. In fact, Neetu Kapoor and Babita Kapoor also quit acting after marrying sons of Raj Kapoor, Rishi and Randhir. However, this tradition was finally broken by Kareena and Karisma Kapoor. But, Ritu featured in just one film and later bid good-bye to acting and distanced from Bollywood forever.
Ritu had acted in the Raj Kapoor-Nargis’ film Shree 420 released in 1955 and one of its songs ‘Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua turned out to be a massive hit. As per twitter handle Movies N Memories, Ritu Nanda appeared in that song with his brothers Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor.

Nikhil Nanda married Shweta Bachchan, daughter of Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and elder sister of Abhishek Bachchan. The wedding was a grand affair which saw the attendance by several Bollywood A-listers. The couple have two children, Navya Naveli Nanda and Agastya Nanda.
Morever, Ritu Nanda was also a businesswoman and served as the chairman and CEO of Ritu Nanda Insurance Services (RNIS). She passed away on January 14, 2020 at the age of 71 after battling with cancer.
