Ajay Devgn-Rohit Shetty confirm collaboration for series of films
After the successful release of “Singham Again” Rohit Shetty Devgn and Ajay Devgn confirm a series of films – Dhamaal, Dabangg vs Singham, Shaitaan, Golmaal, Unsung Hero, Sooryavanshi, Simmba and jungle adventure
Rohit Shetty shared that Singham Again was just a setup for future projects.
Ajay Devgn also spoke about working on a jungle-themed adventure as well as a new addition in the Unsung Hero franchise. A script is also being written for Shaitaan and Drishyam films.
Beginning with assembling so many stars together in Singham Again, Rohit Shetty shared his vision saying that everyone came because it is Singham. And from this film, they will branch out–the characters. Technically, it was their intro. So when you see the film, it’s like the squad has come up and Singham is the main boss of the squad and these are the officers then the journey will go ahead. Basically, it is an introductory to what is coming in future.
When Rohit Shetty was asked, “basically, Singham Again was your set-up film like the Avengers where all the characters came together and then they had their individual films.” Rohit Shetty quickly said, he can’t compare with them (Avengers). You can maybe call that, but If he does, he will be trolled.
Rohit Shetty then shared the reason behind bringing Chulbul Panday in the film.As per Rohit Shetty, “It was Salman’s vision that Chulbul and Singham should come together once. That’s why it happened. And then it’s a long journey. They need to plan things and go ahead with all the characters and see where it is going.
About plans of Chulbul vs Singham?”, Rohit articulated that it just has been a week since the film has released and he needs some time. He has announced a film with the two characters, but it will take time and adding that “Chulbul Panday vs Singham film has to be a stand alone film. It cannot be a universe.”
Amidst the conversation, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty also shared the vision of a potential comedy drama starring Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar. When asked, “has he and Akshay ever discussed a comedy film with Rohit Shetty featuring both of you?” Ajay Devgn responded that if he never thought of that but it’s not a bad idea. And now that you have said it, we will talk about it.”
Rohit Shetty, agreed to this and said, “Actually yeah. It’s a great idea.”
Speaking of making a comedy film, Rohit Shetty, who has not made any comedy film since 2018, shared, that they will make Golmaal 5 soon. Golmaal will be next. It is like a detox. He means, you have made such a big film, and now you want to do something and the whole atmosphere is also lighter and happier when you are making Golmaal. After films like Singham Again, he looks forward to go to the other world. He has done enough serious actions, too much special effects, and an entire team coming from abroad. Golmaal is like a breather.
He also added, how over the years, another comedy film of his has gained a cult following. He said, “All the Best is becoming like a cult. People have started asking me, ‘Why are you not making another film, another All the Best?’”
Ajay shares making of multiple projects and update
Son of Sardar 2 and a film on an Unsung Hero, will be added to the franchise of his 2020 hit film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. They are working on something in Unsung Heroes franchise. As soon as we lock up the script, we will let you know’, said the Golmaal star. Speaking about Son of Sardar 2, Ajay said, they have almost completed the shoot for the film.
Apart from these, Ajay Devgn also confirmed the making of another film in the franchise of Dhamaal. He even shared that the script for Shaitaan 2 and Drishyam 3 is being written. Ajay Devgn also shared about his plans of working in a jungle adventure film. He said, “We are working on a few things right now, however, nothing has been planned.”
Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty confirmed the sequels of Sooryavanshi and Simmba, saying again a cop film will take some time, maybe a year or so. But yes, after that he will plan (Sooryavanshi). It is too early to say which cop film I will plan first.”
When a member in the audience asked if he ever thought of bringing characters of his two universes (Golmaal, and cop universe) together, the director laughed and said, “Simmba in Golmaal: That will become too much. Merepe taras khao. (Show me some mercy). That universe coming here and this universe going there… Simmba will happen for sure because that’s the most loved character in the cop universe, but like he aid, he will first concentrate on a comedy and then a cop film. Because it will become too much for the audience as well as he has constantly been making cop films.
